Botetourt County has an immediate need to fill the position of Bookkeeper I in our Financial Services Department and is accepting applications. The primary function of this position is to process a high volume of Accounts Payable invoices and general ledger maintenance to include month-end adjustments. The candidate will be cross trained to perform as payroll processing backup to the Bookkeeper II.
The position requires proficiency with relevant software applications and Microsoft Office applications; excellent math, organization and communication skills, as well as the aptitude to analyze and research problems to their resolution; a high degree of accuracy and the capacity to meet critical deadlines without fail. Minimum of 3 – 5 years accounts payable and general bookkeeping experience preferred. Responsible payroll experience a plus.
Starting salary to the low 30,000’s DOQ; plus a comprehensive benefits package.

Maintenance Worker-Recreation (Part-time Seasonal)
Botetourt County is accepting applications to fill two part-time seasonal maintenance worker positions in the Parks and Recreation Department. Preferred qualifications include experience in landscaping and grounds maintenance, such as mowing, trimming, pruning, raking, shoveling and the operations of tools and equipment needed to perform these duties, including riding and push mowers, weed-trimmers and hand tools. This position will primarily work Mon-Friday 7:00AM to 3:30PM, up to 24 hours per week. Some periodic evening or weekend duty may be required.
This position requires the applicant to be able to work outdoors and be able to perform moderate to strenuous physical activity for periods of up to eight hours per day. Applicants must possess a valid Virginia driver’s license and a good driving record. Starting rate of pay is up to $10.00 per hour, based on experience. The Recreation Department is continually looking for dedicated volunteers to support its various programs and activities. The County utilizes volunteers to support parks and playing fields, coach youth sports teams, and promote its many programs. Additionally, the County works collectively with seven booster clubs in the area made up entirely of volunteers, which support and organize local youth sports leagues.
