Firefighter/EMT Positions
Botetourt County is accepting applications for the following positions:
- FF/EMT-BLS (Full –time*): Starting Salary up to $32,000 DOQ
- FF/EMT-ALS (Full –time*): Starting Salary up to $37,000 DOQ
- EMT-BLS (Part-time): $11.00 per hour
- EMT-ALS (Part-time): $15.50 per hour
*Full-time positions are eligible for the County benefits package.
All applicants must be 21 years of age, have a valid VA Driver’s License with a good driving record and current EVOC. Must be able to perform physical tasks associated with EMS, fire suppression and related activities; have verifiable field experience and minimum of VA OEMS EMT (BLS), EMT-I or P (ALS); current CPR, PEPP, PHTLS, and ACLS (ALS) preferred. Full-time candidates must also possess a minimum of VDFP Firefighter I.

Van Driver
Botetourt County is currently accepting applications for a part-time Van Driver to transport senior citizens and handicapped passengers to and from various destinations. Currently the County utilizes a 14 passenger van and an 8 passenger van with a wheelchair lift.
The successful candidate must be at least 21 years old. Hold and maintain a valid Virginia driver’s license. Have experience driving multi-passenger vehicles, with a minimum of 2 years van and/or bus driving experience preferred. Hold and maintain a safe driving record with no charges relating to DUI/DWI or controlled substances. An employee in this position is subject to and must pass a pre-employment medical physical; pre-employment drug and alcohol screening and will be subject to future random drug and alcohol screening. Prior to employment, there will be a driving skills assessment conducted by an independent vendor.
This position requires excellent people skills and the ability to work a flexible schedule, averaging between 16 to 28 hours per week; the ability to lift 50 pounds and to assist passengers on and off the vehicle, to and from building entrances and to carry any parcels or personal items as necessary. Some bookkeeping or clerical experience preferred. Click the link to the Job Description for full details regarding the position. Recreation
The Recreation Department is continually looking for dedicated volunteers to support its various programs and activities. The County utilizes volunteers to support parks and playing fields, coach youth sports teams, and promote its many programs. Additionally, the County works collectively with seven booster clubs in the area made up entirely of volunteers, which support and organize local youth sports leagues. The residents of Botetourt County are very fortunate to be served by an outstanding group of individuals that comprise the county's various volunteer fire departments and volunteer rescue squads. The selfless dedication portrayed by these men and women is truly inspiring and greatly appreciated. However, more enthusiastic volunteers are always in demand.
