Redistricting Maps
Following the United States Census conducted in 2010, Botetourt County redistricted in 2011. The Botetourt County Board of Supervisors approved a plan to redraw the county's district lines to accommodate the population growth and shifts of the past ten years. MAP

How to Register |
Obtain, complete and file a voter registration application form with the Voter Registration Office. You may apply to register to vote or change your voter registration name or address at any DMV office. |
When to Register |
You must be registered in the precinct in which you live in order to be qualified to vote. |
Where to Register |
Register at the Botetourt County Voter Registration Office or you can register to vote as a Botetourt resident at any other Voter Registration office in Virginia. |
Name or Address Changes |
To remain a qualified registered voter, the law requires you to notify your local voter registration office of any change in your name or address. This must be done before the registration books close for the next election. The deadline is 21 days prior to any general or primary election and 12 days before a special election. Check the calendar for the notification deadline for the election. You can submit your notice of change of name and/or address by mail or by fax. In either case, to be valid, the notice must include your signature. Notice cannnot be given by telephone or email. After your change is processed, you will be mailed a new Voter Information Card. If your new card does not arrive in a few weeks, contact the Voter Registration Office to confirm that your notice was received. |

When to Vote |
General elections are held on the Tuesday following the first Monday in November. Elections for city and town offices, are held on the first Tuesday in May. Primary elections are held the Tuesday following the first Monday in June. The polls open at 6:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m. If you are in line at 7:00 pm when the polls close, you may still vote. |

How to Vote ABSENTEE |
Mail in: Complete the absentee ballot application. Sign and mail (P.O. Box 62, Fincastle, VA 24090) or fax (473-8657) the completed, signed application to your local general registrar's office. The Tuesday before election day is the last day on which absentee ballot applications can be received.. Follow balloting instructions and return the ballot to the Registrar's Office; it must be received no later than 7:00 pm on Election Day. In Person: Visit the Voter Registration Office during regular office hours, or on the specially scheduled Saturdays (see Calendar). You will be asked to complete an absentee ballot application and show appropriate identification. After the staff has verified your voter registration record, they will direct you to a voting machine where you will vote a ballot exactly like the one in your polling place on Election Day. |

In person absentee voting is available at the Voter Registration Office 45 days prior to the November general election date. For the convenience of registered voters who need to vote by absentee ballot, in addition to regular office hours of Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, your local Voter Registration Office will be open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm the one Saturday prior to the June primary election date, and two Saturdays prior to the November general election: see Calendar |
