New Eagle Rock Branch Librarian Named

FINCASTLE, VA - Botetourt County is pleased to announce that Mr. Michael Hibben has been selected as Branch Librarian for the new Eagle Rock Library. Mr. Hibben is a native of Ohio and has served as Branch Manager of the Pico Union Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library in California for the past two years. He is expected to begin his duties with Botetourt County on March 1, 2010.
Mr. Hibben earned a Master of Library and Information Science degree from Kent State University in 2004 and earned his B.A. in Mass Communications from the University of New Orleans in 1999. Prior to his current position, he served three years as a Young Adult Librarian in Los Angeles and also served for four years as a Reference Assistant at the Oberlin Public Library in Oberlin, Ohio.
The Eagle Rock Library, located in northern Botetourt County, is nearly complete and a spring 2010 opening is expected. Construction on the building began in March 2009. Reynolds Architects of Blacksburg, Virginia, designed the building and Price Buildings of Rocky Mount, Virginia, is the contractor. The new library will offer a selection of books, magazines, audiobooks and DVDs for both children and adults. The library will also offer high-speed internet access, a dedicated computer room, and spacious meeting facilities.
